Some Universities Up Till Now Charge High - POST UME PALAVA

The rate at which the tertiary institutions are matking money nowadays are becoming alarming everyday. The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), has berated some universities in the country for charging outrageous fees for the post-Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (post-UTME) in defiance to Federal Government’s directive.

Based on the insistence of some universities to conduct the Post-UTME, the Federal Government had pegged the fee payable by candidates at N1, 000 only.

But some universities up till now, charge as high as N3,000 to N4, 500 for Post-UTME.

JAMB registrar and chief executive, Professor ‘Dibu Ojerinde, in a statement in Abuja on Sunday, said the action of some of the universities was condemnable and must be stopped.

Signed by the Public Relations Officer of the board, Mr. Timothy Oyedeji, Ojerinde maintained that the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) remained the recognised examination required for admission into all tertiary institutions in Nigeria.
