This is to inform all the Governing Council, Senate, Management, Staff and Students of the University of Lagos, and the general public the death of the Unilag Chancellor, HRM Alhaji (Dr) Aliyu O. Obaje, CBE, FIAMN, LLD, CFR, the Attah Igala Idah, Kogi State.
He died in the afternoon of 16th of July, 2012. He is also President of Kogi state Traditional Council.
The late monarch ascended the throne on November 2, 1956 as the 26th Attah Igala Idah succeeding late Attah Ameh Oboni. He reigned for over 56 (fifty-six) years, making him the longest serving traditional ruler in the country. May God grant him an eternal rest.
The University of Lagos commiserates with the family, Kogi State and the nation as a whole on the loss of this illustrious son of Nigeria. May his gentle soul rest in peace, Amen.
