We' ll Monitor The Admission Process - JAMB, NUC

This is to inform the general public and the entire students that might have lost hope on gaining admission into their choice universities as the National Universities Commission (NUC) and the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) are to embark on a monitoring visit to state-owned universities to ensure compliance with admission regulations.

The Executive Secretary of the commission, Professor Julius Okojie made the statement known pulbily and said they are ready to carry out the visit. He said...

 ``The visit is to assess the level of compliance with NUC’s approved admission quota and qualification of new entrants into the universities, among other tasks,’’

Okojie said the two organisations had distinct roles in the running of the Nigerian University system.

Among some of the issues that will be settled and other bojectives to be carried out includes

  •  The issue of enrollment which had led to overstretching of facilities.
  •  Introduction of an admission quota that is appropriate for each university based on its carrying capacity.
  • Aspirants admitted without meeting the requirements.
  •  State universities violating the operational guidelines and procedures of the system.
  • Determining the number of students admitted and how many matriculated as well as determine other channels such as the foundation, preliminary and remedial for admitting students.
  • Development of a data-base on new entrants into the universities by session and also assess the standard of facilities in the universities.
  • Usage of data capturing instrument that will be used for the exercise had already been dispatched to the affected universities.
