UNIMAID Final Year Student Shot In Boko Haram/JFT Clash

This is to inform the general public and most especially the students of the University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) to learn a lesson or two from the experience of a shot student of UNIMAID.

The 4th of January, 2013 was a sad day for a UNIMAID student who bears the name  Abdulmuminu Abubakar, a Final Year Student of the Department of Adult Education.

He was said to have been walking towards the UNIMAID Campus precisely from the Borno Express Car Park. According to report, we noted that he had already passed the night after arriving from Minna late the previous night.

Due to the 9 pm curfew that was imposed, the curfew makes all travellers arriving late to Maiduguri to sleep at their bus stop.

But it was a sad day indeed for Abdul. He boarded a Taxi from the Bus stop in order to convey him to the UNIMAID campus. Unfortunately, he was hit by a stray bullet during an exchange of Fire between the Members of the Boko Haram and the JFT.

As of report, Abdul is in the Intensive Care Unit of the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital. The Lieutenant Col. Sagir Musa who is the JTF spokesman confirmed the incident. He said there was an attack from the terrorists on the JTF location. A  taxi was caught in the cross fire; unfortunately a stray bullet hit one of the passengers who is alleged to be a student of University of Maiduguri. He said that the victim is now receiving medical attention and responding to treatment.
