The West African Examinations Council
(WAEC) plans to start the electronic method of conducting examinations
during the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE), Chairman of
the council, Professor Jonas Redwood-Sawyer said yesterday.
Redwood-Sawyer said this when he led a team to the Minister of
Education, Professor Ruqayyatu Ahmed Rufa’i as part of preparations to
kick off the 60th anniversary celebration of the council.
He said Nigeria has to some extent curtailed the incidents of examination malpractice.
He said all member countries are addressing the problem of technology fraud with strict monitoring during examinations.
The minister said the Federal Ministry
of Education was working closely with various states through the
commissioners of education to reduce examinations malpractice.
