All About 2012/2013 UNILAG Post Jamb Utme

Fisrt of all, if you are a new person or you don't know much about Unilag. Then here are something you will need to know about the school. The University of Lagos - popularly known as Unilag - is a federal government university with a main campus located at Akoka, Yaba and a college of medicine located at Idi-Araba, all in Lagos, Lagos State, Nigeria. It is also noted that the school is very popular in name. It do takes about 2-3 weeks after JAMB utme has taken place. So, it is very sure that the school will be ready for the post ume registration will comes up April ending and May, 2012You will have to continue studying. But according to my experience and talks I have heard about Unilag Post UME.

The questions that are set are only questions from other past post ume that will be twisted in another form. That implies that they(the lecturer and other examination bodies) are giving out same question all the time. All you have to do is to decode the trick of manipulating question. Read and understand each question before you tick the answer in your sheet. That is part of the reason why you all hear the saying among students " ENI TO MOWE, LO MO WAY" which means "IF YOU KNOW YOUR BOOKS, YOU WILL KNOW YOUR WAY".

Unilag Sure Access....Only fast birds will be needed.

I wish you the best of luck.

Dibu Ojerinde, Registrar, JAMB, in a press briefing in Abuja disclosed that a total of 1,384,644 candidates who sat for the UTME examination are seeking for admission into the available spaces in the nation’s tertiary institutions.

Ojerinde further pointed out that JAMB have achieved a drastic reduction in the incidence of incomplete results to 28,069. According to him, “This figure although is a remarkable reduction in the previous one, it still remains high. Little wonder that the aggressive and sustained awareness campaign mounted by the Board in the last two years has produced positive result, as the figure for the 2012 UTME has been drastically reduced to 5161”

He noted that it is the hope of the Board to wish away totally, all incidences of incomplete results in our future examinations.
The JAMB boss further revealed that the introduction of the Bio-Metric Thumb printing capturing, which was introduced in the 2011 UTME has been a subject of wide discourse; some positive, while others negative, adding however that to the body, it has recorded more successes than draw backs as the system in many centres ensured candidates were orderly and peaceful.

In his words, “in this year’s examination, the Biometric machines that were deployed are technically superior and faster. It takes only about a second to get the machine to validate using candidate’s details”.
A total of 140 visually impaired (blind) candidates participated in the 2012 UTME. A total of 181 prisoners from mainly the Kaduna and Ikoyi Prisons sat for the 2012 UTME. Imo State has the  highest number of applicants in the exams as the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, got the least applicant.

The JAMB Registrar/Chief Executive, Prof. Dibu Ojerinde, who stated this at a news conference in Abuja, listed Abia, Benue, Cross River, Delta, Imo, Lagos, Nasarawa and Rivers as the affected states, due to malpractice such as extortion of money by some examination officials.

1,840 Teachers Have Been Sacked In Kaduna State

Just as the super eagles coach, IThe Kaduna State government has sacked at least 1,840 teachers in secondary and primary schools for allegedly possessing forged certificates.
Commissioner for Education, Malam Usman Mohammad, disclosed this, in a chat with journalists, in Kaduna yesterday.
He explained that Governor Patrick Yakowa’s administration embarked on the screening of all teachers in the public service to sanitise the educational system.

According to him, “after discovering that the standard of education has fallen in the state, government decided to embark on an exercise to flush out teachers with fake certificates. So you can imagine a teacher that has been working for years without the necessary qualifications and its implication for the educational system. So the first thing we did was to flush out these teachers with fake certificates. At least 1,840 of them were shown the way out.”

He said government planned to improve on the quality of education in the state by engaging qualified teachers and by embarking on total rehabilitation of all dilapidated structures to enhance students’ performance.
He disclosed that government had concluded arrangements with teachers’ training institutes to retain about 18,000 teachers with the National Certificate of Education (NCE).
Mohammad added that N3 billion has been earmarked for the development of basic education in this year’s budget.

To Whom it may concern: I am not entirely certain if this is the right email address but I felt compelled to contact your media house with this.

I came upon a video online of a college lecturer and his student, and this took me back to my years as a student in one of the Nigerian colleges, an experience that scarred me and had me living with guilt for so many years after. My hope is that your organization will take on this issue, maybe this case, and give a voice to Judith(the student in this case) and the millions of girls around the country who have had to deal with this sort of sex-ploitation at one time or another.

Our women need to speak and we would appreciate it if you would help us get our cries for help heard.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,

3 Policemen Raped 16- year-old Girl

I don't know if police that are meant to take the bulls by the horns are the ones that are doing tsomething shameful in our society.  Do you that the Kano State High Court on Monday convicted and sentenced three policemen for abduction, conspiracy and rape of a 16-year-old girl in 2011?

The policemen were former Insp. Dantalle Muhammed, who was convicted on three counts  of abduction, conspiracy and rape and sentenced to 10 years imprisonment in addition to a fine of N100,000 for rape.

He was also sentenced to eight years in prison for abduction with a fine of N50,000 and six years in prison with a fine of N50,000 for conspiracy.
The other convict,  former Insp. Yusuf Ibrahim, was sentenced to 14 years with a fine of N200,000 for abduction,  eight years and a fine of N100,000 for conspiracy and  six years with a fine of N50,000 for rape.

The third convict, Mahmuda Muhammad, was sentenced to seven years imprisonment for rape.
In her judgment, Justice Tani Yusuf expressed dismay over the action of the three former policemen of Kwalli Division, who conspired, abducted and raped the girl while they were on duty.
She said that it was inhuman for the police to have paraded the lady alongside three other suspects who ran away.
She ordered  the police to trace and arrest them. (NAN)

WAEC WILL START ONLINE EXAM (E-EXAM) SOON

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) plans to start the electronic method of conducting examinations during the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE), Chairman of the council, Professor Jonas Redwood-Sawyer said yesterday.

Redwood-Sawyer said this when he led a team to the Minister of Education, Professor Ruqayyatu Ahmed Rufa’i as part of preparations to kick off the 60th anniversary celebration of the council.
He said Nigeria has to some extent curtailed the incidents of examination malpractice.

He said all member countries are addressing the problem of technology fraud with strict monitoring during examinations.
The minister said the Federal Ministry of Education was working closely with various states through the commissioners of education to reduce examinations malpractice.

FG Has Spent N3 Trillion on Education Sector in 12 Years - Senator Anyim Pius Anyim

Senator Anyim Pius Anyim
By Bukola Olatunji
The Federal Government has spent a total sum of N3 trillion in the education sector since 1999 till date.
Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, who disclosed this in a keynote address he delivered at the ‘Civil Society/ Stakeholders’ Roundtable on Education’, organised by the Independent Service Delivery Monitoring Group (ISDMG) yesterday, expressed displeasure that not much impact had been made to justify the huge expenditure.

Anyim, who was represented by his Permanent Secretary, General Services Office, Mr. Femi Olayisade, said: “I am happy that the Chief Executive Officers of many of the parastatals in the education sector are here. I, therefore implore you all to consider the roundtable as an opportunity to discuss the ways and means of improving educational system. Government’s investment in education has to be seen making the required impact.”
Meanwhile, the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) is set to introduce e-examination as it marks its 60th Anniversary.

Chairman of the council, Prof. Jonas Abioseh Redwood-Sawyer, who disclosed this, during a courtesy call on the Minister of Education, Prof. Ruqayyatu Ahmed Rufa’i, in Abuja, said the council was moving fast on the deployment of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in many of its operations for greater effectiveness, including computer activated examination, “so that we can move away from the pen and paper. All these are lined up and we are hoping that within the next few years, WAEC will be very difficult to beat or compete with,” he said.
A delegation of the five member countries of WAEC (Nigeria, Ghana, Liberia, Sierra Leone and The Gambia) had visited the minister to brief her on the programmes lined up for the 60th anniversary of WAEC, holding in Nigeria.

The Chairman of the Council, who is from Sierra Leone, acknowledged the enormous support and contributions of Nigerian government to the successes of WAEC in the last 60 years, with a pledge to see that the council continues to do its best to maintain the integrity of its certificate.

Responding, Rufa’i, also pledged the Federal Government’s continued support for the council to succeed in its mandate, adding that the government had done very much to curtail the menace of examination malpractices that had bedevilled conduct of public examinations,  a menace, which she said was not limited to Nigeria.
