The newly established Federal University, Lokoja will formally commence academic activities inJanuary 2012 with 200 students, itsVice-Chancellor, Prof. Abdulmumin Rafindadi, has said.
Rafindadi told newsmen in Lokoja onThursday that the university willtake off at its temporary site withonly two faculties - Arts andSocial Sciences with fewdepartments.
He said the faculties ofengineering and education would beadded over the next two or threeyears and said the studentpopulation of the university maynot be more than 600 at its peak.
He explained the pioneer studentsof the university would be selectedfrom the 961 applicants, who madethe school their first choice inthe last UTME conducted by JAMB.
More than 2,000 other applicantswho made the university theirsecond choice would not be considered for admission at all, heexplained.
He stated that the university wouldhold its first post-UTME screeningon September 27.
