EKITI STATE TO SUPPORT EKSU IN SPORTS DEVELOPMENT

The Ekiti State Sports Council has promised to support the Ekiti State University in the provision of sporting facilities which would encourage students to participate actively in sports and consequently improve the rating of Ekiti State in national sporting competitions.

The Chairman of the Sports Council, Mr. Ade Adetola made the promise when
he led a delegation of the Board and Management of the Council on
a courtesy visit to the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor E. Dada
Adelowo.

Mr. Adetola said that it was imperative for the Management of the University to develop a sports complex in order to realise this lofty objective. He identified some of the areas of need in the institution's sports complex as provision of sitting terrace, grassing the pitch and provision of a hall for indoor games. He added  that with such facilities, young men and women would develop more interest in sports.

Prof. Adelowo, who again, used the opportunity of the occasion to express appreciation to Governor Fayemi for his appointment as Acting Vice-Chancellor promised that  he would contribute his quota to sports development in the state.

He said the University was planning to construct a fence round its sports complex, and would welcome the contributions of the Sports Council in the development of sports in the University.  Prof.  Adelowo who was a former goalkeeper in his youthful years promised that the University would continue to encourage sporting activities in the University  in order to arrest restiveness among students.
