JAMB 2011 : JAMB admits 60,000 of 498,000 candidates

A comment that needs an urgent review by the jamb registrar to see what a good Nigerian has said out of the heart. This comment is really astonishing!
60,000.00  out of 498,000.00candidates who sat for JAMB have been offered admission into various universities. ``
This figure represent about 12 percent of the candidates that sat for JAMB.
This percentage is not really the issue, the real issue is that the whole educational system should be overhauled and also more value should attached to technical training. One must not be a university graduate to be somebody in the society. The scramble for university education due to unnecessary class that is attached to it.
Do not get me wrong, education is very good. But after the basic education to high school level, one can learn a trade based on his performance in his high school and must not necessary force his ways into university that he/she is not academically qualified to go into. The end result is the output of graduates that are not able to defend the university certificate.
Trades like :
Shoe making
Furniture
Fashion designing
Farming etc should be promoted and at the end of their training, they become self employed and probably employers of labours.
What should be more important is that one has a good source of livelihood.
My brother`s son is still waiting for the fourth year to gain admission into a university that would eventually throw him out into the labour market without hope.
FOUR WASTED YEARS ( long enough to learn a good trade and start a good life.)
