ASUU LIKELY TO CALL OFF STRIKE ON WEDNESDAY

It seems the union has come to conclusion to suspend the strike for the time being. Academic Staff Union of Universities ASUU now want to suspend the strike after consulting with individual striking universities on the offer made by the Federal Government.


The leadership of the union named Professor Ukachukwu Awuzie initially hasdeclined the offer made by the federal Giovernment. But after he has consulted the members. The members then told him to embrace the offer for the time being in a crucial meeting. Though, the general public is still expecting Professor Ukachukwu to make the pronouncement of the suspending of the strike action on Wednesday.

One of the major reason behind the ASUU strike is the retirement age. It was said that the Senate has already amended the provisions of retirement from 65 to 70 years and this will also make the union to consider the suspension of the strike action that have been on since the 5th of December, 2011.
