One Feared Dead As Protesters Faced Police In Kwara

This is coming from one of Nigeria peaceful state, Kwara. It got alerted that there was incident of protest that occured in the state and lead to the killing of a innocent citizen.
The Congress, which also reacted to the setting up of the Christopher Kolade Committee to manage savings to be made by Federal Government from subsidy removal said it will on Wednesday 4th January, 2012 alongside Trade Union Congress issue clear directive on the date coordinated nationwide general strikes, mass rallies and street protests will commence, and the methodology of the protests to protest the hike in fuel price.  
The Congress also described as barefaced lies, the impression being given by the Special Adviser on Media to President Jonathan, Dr. Reuben Abati that Labour was in support of the subsidy removal. Labour also described the Justice Alfa Belgore set up by government to negotiate with Labour and other stakeholders opposed to fuel subsidy removal as an afterthought.
NLC reaction position was contained in a press release signed by Abdulwaheed Omar, President NLC, the Congress made available to journalists in Abuja on Tuesday afternoon.
 
Reports indicated that a young man who was part of the anti fuel hike protest was shot dead around the Post Office in central Ilorin, Kwara State.
 
The photograph of the corpse of the young man allegedly shot dead by the Police were been circulated on the internet across Nigeria on Tuesday. In the press release, NLC alleged that the protester was killed by were armed policemen from the Area A Division, close to UBA Ilorin and the State Police Command along Sulu Gambari Road, Ilorin.  
While regretting the death of the protester, the NLC said President Jonathan cannot absolve himself from the unfortunate event.
“The Police is directly under the control and command of the Presidency and it is the Jonathan administration’s inhuman policy that has resulted in the murder of an innocent citizen.  The NLC holds the Jonathan administration liable for this murder and advises it to fish out its agents who shot protesters in Ilorin and bring them to justice”, said NLC.
The Congress further cautioned the President against what it described as “the use of brute force and arms against unarmed Nigerians who protest publicly, their rejection of its murderous policy of hiking fuel prices by between 120 and 200 per cent”.
