Kano State Government Released N371.5m For Exam Fees

This is one of the new and welcoming development done by the The Kano State Governor. The Kano State Government has just approved the release of N371.5 million to the Ministry of Education for the payment of students' registration and accreditation fees for 2012 examinations. WAEC, NECO and the National Board for Arabic and Islamic Education (NBAIS) are all included. The government says "It is part of deliberate efforts to ensure that indigenes of the state obtain the prerequisite qualifications to further their education".
 
 
A statement signed by the Director, Communication and Public Relations Strategy to the Governor, Malam Halilu Dantiye, announced this in Kano on Thursday.
It said that the approval was given after the State Executive Council meeting on Wednesday.
According to the statement, the government will continue to reward good performances at the SSCE by donating JAMB examination registration forms to candidates.
It also said that the Council had approved N14 million for the purchase of 1,000 copies of four sets of books.
It said the books comprised past examination question papers and answers for eight core subjects, for distribution to secondary schools across the state.
“The sum of N31.1 million was approved for disbursement to 69 bonded eligible medical students of the state presently at 300 levels in some universities.
“While N22. 4 million was earmarked for payment of compensation for structures within the premises of the state Informatics Institute in Kura Local Government Area.”
The statement said government also approved the release of N48.8 million to facilitate the third batch of “Lafiya Jari” empowerment programme.
The programme involves 200 unemployed health professionals from across the state.
“A total of N9.7 million would also be released to cater for the intake of second batch of students at the Poultry Institute, Tukwui, Makoda Local Government Area.”
The statement further said that N298.1 million was approved for the Task Force on the Repairs and Reactivation of Streets and Traffic Lights.
The amount is for the installation of lights from Zaria Road roundabout to Dantata and Sawoe yard in Kano metropolis.
