Save The Declinging Education Sector -ACN

The Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) has voiced out and called for an emergency action, similar to the American 'Marshall Plan,' to revive the  dying state of education and its sector in Nigeria.

Alhaji Lai Mohammed being the National publicity secretary of the party said yesterday that the party is deeply worried about the recently-released results of the SSCE conducted by the National Examination Council (NECO) in November/December 2011 and also 2012 JAMB/UTME.

He said in a statement that media reports revealed that only 14.15 percent of those who took the core subject of English Language at the NECO exam passed; as similar poor results were recorded in Mathematics and the science subjects. Also, only 25 percent of the candidates who sat for the 2011 June/July SSCE passed at credit level, while for the 2012 JAMB/UTME, the result is even worse, with only three candidates said to have scored above 300, compared to 2,892 that scored above 300 in the 2011 exam.

Editor's Note: This is not encouraging and signifies that there is a sure collapse of education if the FG won't do something to the suituation on ground.
